As each season, Guia la Bruna is very busy and didn't has yet updated her website to present her winter collection. But as usual we're so in love with her lingerie than we forgive all, and of course we thank's her to have sent us some pictures of her winter lingerie, where we see that chiffon competes more and more silk...

Another good news is the launching of her Guialab collections, announced on the last salon de la lingerie. A diffusion line, as charming but really less expensive than her luxury lingerie, about which I will talk more soon but from which you can already find some pieces at DolceV.

Those Obama pants have been around for a while now, so it's only fair that Republican voters have their election underwear fun too - and novelty panty manufacturers have been quick off the mark to emblazon their thongs with VP hopeful Sarah Palin. From what I can gather “repurposed fabrics” are coming to the forefront as popular materials in “eco” collections. Basically, materials are retrieved from discarded clothing and reused to make current lines or labels. And Meadow from Miami fabricates “repurposed lycra” into lovely camis, bathing suits, and beach cover-up dresses. In addition to the lycra, she also uses bamboo, hemp, soy, organic cotton, and wooden buttons to create her little local collection.

Inspired by her grandmothers’ clothing, one grandmother is artistically inclined enjoying the outdoors and crafts while her other grandmother enjoys wearing stylish designer clothing. Thus, Meadow’s “eco chic collection is founded on the marriage of style and the love of the earth”. In designing her label, Meadow tried to create a line that was respectful both of employees and the earth, was considered in the same league as designer clothing, and was chic but comfortable to wear.

The Summer 2008 collection includes a floral bikini called “blooming bikini” crafted from repurposed lycra with side tie bikini bottoms adorned with pretty coloured wood beads.
The “braided bamboo bikini” is quite pretty with its long braided string ties at the neck and back of the white coloured triangle top. Made of bamboo, organic cotton and spandex, the bikini top and bottoms are lined with mesh. The “kaia bubble dress” fashionably made from soy, organic cotton and spandex, with plunge neckline and keyhole design, bubble skirt, and short styling is perfect for wearing on the beach or partying at the club. And the “lena cami set” of moss green or cream camisole and boy short is rich looking and very unique with the string ties at the shoulders of the camisole.

A cute collection that should be noticed, you must take a look at the rest of Meadow’s bikinis and her little dresses.

Mention boudoir and images of candles probably enter the mind. In this series, TLP has show other options including wallpaper, storage, lighting, furniture, and pillows. In this article, TLP looks at chairs. A chair for the boudoir is often wider in the seat and more fanciful than chairs for the rest of the house, but in our modern, mix-and-match society, these distinctions may not be as important. All of these items are very high end. Look around, use eBay and Craigslist. You may find some bargains that just need some TLC and a good upholsterer.

Madame Sera is an antique furniture archaeologist. She finds eccentrically beautiful antique furniture. She restores and transforms them into captivating boudoir pieces. Decodame specializes in mid-century pieces, typically with a sense of modernism. These boudoir armchairs are a beautiful example of art nouveau. One of the chairs is period, the other is a modern copy to make the pair of chairs. They have been refinished and dressed in new black silk upholstery. Find them here for $9800 US for the pair.

Venfield was derived from the names of its two founders, Greg Ventra and Mark Field. Greg and Mark worked in fashion and then partnered to begin Venfield which specializes in antiques and interior design. They currently have these 1930s art deco slipper chairs for the boudoir. Thais Gusmão is the designer behind her eponymous brand in Brazil. Thais graduated from Anhembi Morumbi University and started her brand in 1996 selling handmade designs in alternative stores. Her first brand name store opened a couple of years later and her brand continued to grow. She added lingerie by the early 2000s.

Thais Gusmão has created several cooperative editions including designs for Barbie and Adidas. This year, to commemorate the international day of women, Gusmão created a special Wonder Woman collection with the cooperation of Warner Brothers. The Wonder Woman collection consists of robes, shirts, bras, and knickers using comic book reprints and pop art celebrating the American superhero.

Do you remember the media storm that occurred last year in response to HOTmilk ads? It was, as Mandolina reported, silly that anyone would think that maternity lingerie should be modeled on women who weren’t even pregnant. But it caused a huge uproar!

It’s been more than a year, and we thought that the controversy had died down, but it seems that it hasn’t. Amanda Bere, who owns H&J Lingerie Co. of Shelby North Yorkshire, put pretty HOTmilk lingerie on a pregnant mannequin on display in her store’s window. She was surprised when local residents and other shops complained that the display was offensive and wanted it removed from the window. Even putting a camisole on the mannequin didn’t ease the complaints, so Bere finally took down the display. When local mothers learned why the display was removed, they were rightfully appalled. Pregnancy is a beautiful, natural time in a woman’s life! Do people really think that pregnant and nursing women shouldn’t be sexy? How ridiculous!

Avocado is a lingerie retailer and manufacturer in Poland. Avocado offers swimsuits, bras, knickers, and other pieces of lingerie. Their site is available in Polish only. The corporate site is also the company store and this may be the only way to purchase the in-house Avocado brand online. Their are retail outlets as well. Frequent TLP reader BabaYaga1987 has this to say about Avocado.

I think that you are not presenting the most interesting Polish manufacturers. To name one: AVOCADO. In a few words I can say, that they were the first Polish brand to produce 28 and 30 band sizes and D+ and G+ cup sizes. The design is interesting (a bit different from the ultra-romantic styles full of ribbon and embroidery that other companies here produce). The only disadvantage is the price (waaay to high for most Polish customers, about $50 for a bra).

New York Fashion Week, a week-long fashion parade in New York’s Bryant Park, begins Friday. It is an annual event where fashion designers showcase their Spring collections.

Heather Thomson, lingerie creator and celebrity stylist, jump started her show with pole dancing where she personally hand-picked eight of the best pole dancers in the city to showcase her Yummie Tummie shapewear lingerie.

Heather Thomson’s Yummie Tummie line of shapewear lingerie is only available in specialty fashion stores and higher-end retail stores. Well, what do we expect when even Oprah Winfrey gave it rave reviews?

I like that."

In terms of Chanel lingerie, the closest I could find online were some imitations. A close friend of mine worked for Chanel, she attests that the only Chanel intimates are Lagerfield's swimwear, hosery, tights, and a few pieces "close" to intimates but "not a full line."

It was time for tea for Playful Promises last week as we threw a fabulous press day party - ‘Cream Tea and Corsetry’ - in the lavish surroundings of Portland Place with Kiss Me Deadly and Lulu and Lush!

After the initial panic of trying to remember all of the days essentials (2 taxis were required to go and pick up our forgotten samples - oops!!) we were served cups of tea from beautiful china teacups by cute 1920’s flapper girl waitresses courtesy of the lovely Bettie Blythe, and devoured way too many cheeky knicker-embellished ‘Eat Me’ cupcakes by ‘The Great Cake Escape’!

The magnificent shabby-chic setting was perfect to view the new SS09 collections from Playful Promises, Lulu and Lush and Kiss Me Deadly!

The burlesque beauties, ‘Two To Tease’ featuring Cordelia and the dazzling Princess of Soho, Cheyenne Raymond showed off Playful Promises and Kiss Me Deadly’s saucy sets with a seductive strip-tease performance!

We have also discovered a great new way of designing future collections! We had a wonderfully hardworking production line of guests busy customising corsets, frilly knickers and candy-coloured girdles with an array of glittering Swarkowski crystals, lace-trims, flowers and bows!

Melissa is a small manufacturer of eccentric lingerie in Poland. They offer bras, knickers, strings, chemises, and a few pieces for the “Amazons” (perhaps larger busted women?) The corporate site is available in Polish and English. They offer a customer loyalty program giving away a knicker or string for every 10 bras purchased. If you are looking for the narrow demographic crossover between designer lingerie and typography, House Industries has a limited edition package for you. After twelve years of living with the same logo, Joseph Corre said, “We needed to move on. House Industries was an obvious choice. I knew they would retain the goodwill we had already developed in the word mark but deliver something authentic and original. I was right.”

Besides the logo, House Industries created a corset shape containing the roundhand AP logotype, redrew the signature Agent Provocateur lacy legs, and created an exclusive typeface for the company. The whole process was documented in a commemorative book and an exclusive pair of their side tie knickers with more of the delicious font created by House Industries. The package is $75 and quantities are limited.

Well you don't (normally) wear a bra without some knickers so how about these hot sale sizzlers? The Truly Gifted Knicker by Carol Malony, half price at £10 or the Amazing Skirted Boyshort by Polish manufacturer Wolbar for just £10.80.

Yes, it's official. The Germans have lost the plot and issues every serving policewoman a bulletproof bra.

It's a Wonderbra!

The bras are made of cotton or polyester and are padded. Unlike bullet-proof vests, they have no metal or plastic under-wire or fasteners that can pierce skin and injure the wearer when a bullet hit the body armor.

Sounds pretty soft... Well soft, at least. I'm afraid even Brashop, our very own bra superstore doesn't cater for action dolls.

According the the Beeb, there are a couple of serious points behind this.

"The impact of a bullet can push the metal and plastic bits of the bra into an officer's body, causing serious injury," said Carmen Kibat, an adviser on equal opportunities for the Hamburg-based Bundespolizei - Germany's federal police force.

We wanted to gradually work you back into the world of satin. After last week’s Frilly Friday post, we don’t want to O.D., so we’re back to something sheer for today’s Thong Thursday. Basically, we’re still O.D.ing on sheer stuff. You’ll just have to deal with it.

The Calvin Klein Sheer Passion Thong is a minimal coverage thong featuring pretty stretch lace along the leg band. This lace is somewhat unique in that it continues all the way through the rear and disappears into the nether regions, resulting in a pretty curve across the rear of the thong. Of course, it’s Calvin Klein so the obligatory signature logo adorns the waistband. The ultra sheer mesh on the front and rear panel is unlined.

Our only real complaint about the Sheer Passion thong is that they’ve named the pretty blue color, “Petrol”. Unless there’s some meaning we’re missing, that’s British-speak for “gasoline”. It seems an odd name for such a pretty color on a pretty panty. In any case, you can just tell people they’re blue-gray if it bothers you. Happy Thong Thursday!

Personally, we think Christian Dior nailed it, but the designers featured in this post did an amazing job interpreting peek-a-boo panties in a contemporary way.

We’ve shown you Evlove Intimates before: custom-designed lingerie and home parties that help you bring your own style and creativity into the boudoir! Now, The Lingerie Post readers are some of the first to learn of Evlove’s latest style which, until recently, was only available at a few private home lingerie parties.
